CARE OF BAND PROPERTY

UNIFORMS

All uniforms are the property of the Southaven High School Band. It is the responsibility of each member to maintain and take care of the uniform issued.

All band members will need to purchase band shoes (purchased from a source instructed by the director) and gloves. Band T-Shirts will be sold at a reasonable cost.

SCHOOL OWNED INSTRUMENTS

A school owned instrument checked out from the band’s inventory for your use becomes your responsibility. You must keep it in clean and proper working order. Excessive damage through student negligence will result in your own private repair bill. School owned instruments include percussion equipment, tubas, marching baritones, marching French horns, and some woodwind instruments.

There will an instrument rental fee of $75.00 per semester assessed by the DeSoto County School District.

Each member will be held legally responsible for the school owned instrument checked out to him/her. Failure to return school owned instruments in GOOD SHAPE will result in your grades being held until your obligations are discharged.

MUSIC

Each member of the band will receive music for the half-time show, as well as an assortment of music for use in the stands. Flip Folders and Marching Lyres are required!

Arrange your music in the order it will be used at each rehearsal. If you need to replace any missing music, see Mr. Pitts or a Drum Major well enough in advance of the next rehearsal to replace any missing music before the next rehearsal.
