The Alternate System
Unfortunately, we are never sure of the exact number of available performers we will have when the school year starts. We pay a great deal of money, long before the school year begins, to have our competitive field show (half-time show) designed. In order to be as fair as possible to all of our students, we have established the Alternate System. The field show will be written for a predetermined number of performers based upon multiples of 4 in each section. If these numbers do not coincide when summer band camp begins:Alternates will be determined and announced during the week of Band Camp.
Alternates will have the option of "challenging" one person per week within their section for a position in the show.
A challenge will consist of marching assigned drill sets and corresponding music or guard work. Challenges will be held after every Monday rehearsal.
Extended illness, injury, absences:
A person who regularly misses or sits out of rehearsals because of illness, injury, lack of stamina, or absences may be placed on alternate status at the discretion of the director.
BEHAVIOR THAT DISRUPTS REHEARSAL WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
Any student exhibiting disruptive behavior in any form will be removed from the rehearsal. If this occurs, that student must report to the director outside of band rehearsal time prior to the next rehearsal. Failure to do so will result in permanent removal from all rehearsals and performances with this organization. Continued disruptive behavior will result in that student’s removal from any and all performing ensembles.
